In this episode, Rameez Mahmood – former president of SUMSA (Strathclyde University Muslim Students Association) – shares his experience of being part of his University Islamic Society and how greatly this experience benefited through opportunities to reach his full potential both academically and spiritually.
He also shares the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone and finding where you can apply your unique skillsets for the sake of Allah SWT.

Rameez graduated in Computer Science at Strathclyde University in 2016 and is currently a software engineer in the financial sector.
Throughout his time in University he was the co head of Muslim Hands Scotland and was heavily involved with MABY and SUMSA. He become the vice president of SUMSA in his 3rd year of university and was the president in his final year. In his term as president, SUSMA was awarded Society of The Year from the University of Strathclyde Students’ Union.
Rameez has also been a presenter and producer for Radio Ramadan, he is the former chair for MABY Scotland and is a graduate of the iSyllabus intermediate program. In his workplace, he is part of the Muslim Embrace Forum which works to advise employers on how to improve the workplace experience for Muslim employees.
